Marketing Tip Monday: This is one for all the individual people out there with social media accounts! In this day and age, with social media making such a huge impact on the world, it is more important than ever to protect your account privacy on social media. Accessing your account on a variety of devices is convenient, but can bring a multitude of privacy issues when it comes to unwanted parties gaining access to your account and hackers stealing and using private information for their benefit! The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has made it easier for people to more easily control what and who on Facebook can see and use your data on the platform. It is important to keep in mind what you share, as you’ll be targeted by all those companies that you choose to share posts from in the future, making you more susceptible to fraud, privacy breaches, etc. Make sure to complete a privacy checkup every so often. This will ensure you revisit important privacy settings and that your posts and information are being shared only with those you want it to be shared with. Make sure you understand which apps you have given permission to view your data and collect information from you. Think about what you post, as it could reveal personal information that you may not want others to know. Block pages and people you don’t want seeing your information and limit your past posts so the past is truly in the past.
